Is there an entry fee or is the event free?Permaculture in New Zealand welcomes both our members and non-members to the national hui. You can buy your ticket here.

Can I bring my children?Yes, we are planning to have some activities for children and will share details at the Hui. Meanwhile, it would help if you could give us some information about any child/chidren you are bringing. Please note you will still be responsible for your children during these activities.

Is the event accessible for people with disabilities?The Green School is an accessible venue. If you have any specific needs, please let us know at info@permaculture.org.nz.

Have there been previous Permaculture Hui?Yes. Our National Hui were an annual event organised and run by regional groups until 2020, when it was called off because of the Covid 19 lockdown. This is the reason that the theme for our 2024 Hui is Reconnecting - and we are so looking forward to coming together again.

Are there facilities such as restrooms?Yes, there will be school toilets and portaloos available.

Will there be plants for sale?No. However, several members have expressed a desire to swap and exchange plants and seeds during the event. Those who wish to participate can do so at their own convenience and in a responsible manner.

Do I need to be there for the whole event?No. Participation is up to you. Your ticket allows you entry to the Hui at the Green School, from the start of the event until the end. You can select from the numerous workshops, speakers and panel discussions, plus social networking opportunities. See what else is included in your ticket here.

Is there parking available, and is it free or paid?Yes. You will be able to park outside the school, and it is free.

Where can I stay?Ducks & Drakes Boutique Motel & Backpackers has dormitory beds, single rooms, twin rooms and cottages. Use the code PCNZ in your booking. The closest holiday park to the Green School is the Oakura Beach Holiday Park. If you are looking for affordable accommodation right in the centre of New Plymouth and want to head out for a night on the town after the hui wraps up, Ariki Backpackers is the place for you. Egmont Eco Leisure Park provides accommodation for every budget set in 7 acres of picturesque park like surrounds. There are also many hotels and motels in the local area, as well as short-term rentals. The Green School does not have a campsite and cannot accommodate overnight stays.
